Being a great film can be not only a relaxing and fun experience, but it can just as well be life changing- having a profound effect on the way we think about and communicate with the world around us. For this reason, it is not wonder that the movie making business is still going strong and because of this, many movies come out each month. With all these new movies coming out, who can keep up? Here is the movie lover's guide to current movies. Ready Player One Based on a book authored by Earnest Cline, Ready Player One is similar to the storyline of the Matrix, yet different enough to warrant its own attention. Taking place in a dystopian future, the movie finds the year 2045 filled with chaos and economic collapse. As a way to escape, the populace finds solace in a virtual reality world known as The Oasis created by an eccentric genius. When he dies, he promises to pass on his fortune to the one who can find his "digital easter egg" that he has hidden creating...

Going to the movies can take on many roles, some of which are a bit more important to others. While most people might think that a movie being a cultural phenomenon or a movie of a generation might be pretty important, nearly everyone will discount how important family movies can be in general. Depending on who you ask, this may be more of a commentary on how society is changing, but it might just be that family movies are made for only some members of the family. Think about the last time you sat and watched a movie with your spouse and children. Was it animated? Were the parental figures just a bit too out of touch to seem real? Did the CGI overload make it hard to even look at the screen? As time has gone on, what makes for a family movie has really been more about making a movie that keeps a kids attention long enough to give Mom and Dad a breather. Whatever happened to the type of movie that made the family feel closer to each other? You know, the kind of movie that taught an ...

Celebrities come and go. They can either stay for a couple of years, but some fail to carve a niche in the entertainment industry and remain a starlet. Some are successful and become iconic in the music scene, television and movies. You might be wondering why some of them have disappeared in the industry. If you observe their stellar status, the luckiest are those who share common characteristics that made them rich and famous. Take a peek at the 8 common characteristics famous celebrities have in common. Find out if you have any of these traits that can be helpful in your chosen profession. 1. Strong determination and confidence. Celebrities are confident and determined to pursue their goal no matter what happens. They are the kind of people who do not care about what others say when they pose nude in a men's magazine or wear a bizarre outfit. Getting out of poverty and to become famous are two things that prodded them to try their luck in Hollywood hoping that they could ...

We enjoy all the great CGI that we have in movies in today's industry. We watch older movies and laugh at the effects and can appreciate how far we have come. People are always looking at how to further our technology and soon we will be looking back and laughing at what we grew up on. SO with that in mind, how different would it be if Marvel decided to make their movies in the 90's? First off, it will all be different actors. All the actors that we have come to love would be different with the actors of the 90's. They will have different personalities and they will be reacting to things differently. The movies may have been more dramatic or maybe funnier. Still, the overall essence will not be the same. There will also be different phases than the ones that have now. There was a plan from the beginning when making all the hero movies today. They all connected and meet at a point where they all appeared together. If the movies were made in the 90's there probably wo...

The age-old question. Who could possibly be better? Marvel or DC. There are fans of both, but for the most part, there is a line separating both universes. So what makes one better than the other? Or does each universe handle it's own? To start off, Batman and Superman are very big superheroes that almost everyone is aware of. Whether fans or not, they know who these characters are. These two have had movies, tv shows, and action figures made way before the war between Marvel and DC. No one seemed to care about Iron Man or Thor, but rather indulged in the two DC characters everyone seemed to love. DC made a move years ago with their Batman and Superman antics. They were the first to be in the superhero business. That is about how far they went. They did have really great Batman movies, but if you really look at it, they are kind of repetitive. The had a chance with Wonder Woman and an even bigger chance with Justice League, but when it came to performing, they...

To the future. To the future individuals who will be working in the Entertainment Business. You are the future. You will be moving this massive industry to the future unknowns. Movie theaters are meant to be loved and adored. They inspire imagination and creativity. They are a place for people to escape and create their own world. At the same, havens could have some problems and issues at hand. I will be discussing some prime matters that circulate movie theater environments. I would also like to add that this doesn't apply to every theater. There are very exquisite and organized theaters, but most have not lived up to that standard. To start, movie tickets and concession prices. I understand that many theaters do not have the liberty to price their products due to restrictions, regulations, or the fact that they need to make a profit. Still, when you think about it, $14 for a bucket of popcorn is pretty crazy. This problem can lead to people pirating movies online and enjoying their $4 box of popcorns. Their prices are a problem that can cause people to be pushed away. If they can fix this pricing problem, they may be able to save themselves from the I...

Our superheroes have grown and become big names from Iron Man to Thor. Every superhero, who has a movie or is a supporting character, is known in the superhero universe. One age-old question within that universe involves the Incredible Hulk. This character's transformation has been an interesting one, to say nonetheless. We will be looking back and comparing the different Hulks. Edward Norton did a decent job at portraying the Hulk. This character isn't the easiest to play and does involve a lot of work. He definitely tried, but the storyline and character development didn't play in his favor. The timing of when the movie was released is also a playing a factor. This movie came out before the Marvel universe actually became a phenomenon. That didn't allow the studio and surrounding storylines to further his development. This movie was not a part of the growing universe but rather another superhero movie. Mark Ruffalo had a lot more background and information to work...

18 huge films turning 10 in 2018 In the artcile above, they discuss the films that are growing older and turning the big 1-0 this year. I would like to put my input on some of these movies and dicussing them. The Dark Knight was a very pivotal movie. It was one of the best Batman movies to be made and the Joker character was extradinary. It also brought up issues after the death of Heath Ledger and how method acting can get too far. He was warned before filming that the movie was dark and not as friendly as the previous Batman movies made before. It was role that would take a lot out of him mentally and eventually took his life. This movies was one that would go down in history. Wall-E is a cartoon Pixar movie but also kind of changed the world. It opened many people's eyes about taking care of the Earth and how crazy it will get if we don't change our digusting ways. We were taught to take our eyes away from screens and enjoy the world around us. We were shown that lov...

Recently, we have had strong leads in movies. Especially with Wonder Woman, we see that strong female leads are possible and inspire so many people. We should move forward even more and have a strong, Hispanic female lead. Yes, we have had amazing Hispanic female leads in previous movies like Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez Cote de Pablo. Still, they are being taken out of the light by their other male leads. So why hasn't there been a Hispanic female lead yet? By having a Hispanic, female lead we will be showing little girls how they can be strong too. We will be showing a whole race that they shouldn't live under someone else's shadow. They are amazing woman out there that are more than just their good looks or a good body. They are smart, leading and have done truly extraordinary things. Hollywood is run by men. Lately, we have seen what goes on behind the scenes and it is truly horrifying. Women need to be vocal and strong in telling their male co-workers that th...

Hugh Jackman is a big name in today's entertainment. He has had a successful career and has done so much in his lifetime. From superheroes to dancing, he has done it all. He's hosted the Oscars, performed on Broadway and has made his movie characters come to life. Let's take a look back at his early years. Hugh Jackman was born in Sydney, Australia on October 12, 1968. He has four older siblings and a younger half-sister. In high school, he starred in a production of My Fair Lady. He later studied at the Unversity of Technology in Sydney and joined a theater class, in his final year, for credits. He ended up playing the lead in Memorandum . Jackman graduated in 1991 with a BA in Communications. He soon joined and completed a one-year course at the Actors' Centre in Sydney. He later committed his time to studying acting at 22. Later, he was offered a role in a popular soap opera Neighbours but turned it down. When attending classes, he stated that "it wasn't...

The internet has been buzzing with sequels. First, it was the Jumanji movie, then we got a teaser trailer for Incredibles 2 , and now we have the first trailer for Wreck-It Ralph 2 . Their marketing team did an excellent job on getting everyone to talk about the first trailer release date and getting everyone excited about it. A lot was relying on this first trailer and from what I have seen so far. I don't think it's going to do well. The first movie was a well thought out movie with heart, a fantastic story and developing characters. It was the first of it's kind, combining video games into real life, in a way. What everyone loved about the first movies was the fact that it involved video games that so many people grew up with and loved. It also includes the story from the villain's perspective, who just wanted to be good. It made you feel happy inside and appreciate the good things in life. A perfect children's movie. Now the second has a lot of work to beat...

In today's blog, I interview a college theater worker. Personally, working in a movie theater always seemed fun to me. Still, we will find out the pros and cons and other exciting things about working and serving others in a movie theater. Today's interviewee is Raquel, a college student who works in a theater around my town. Thanks for having me here today to ask you a couple questions. To start off what made you want to work at a movie theater? It honestly sounded like fun. I guess it also looked pretty cool in movies too. Overall, I just wanted a job that seemed fun. I've made some really good friends since I started working here and it has had some fun moments. What are some fun moments you've had so far? The projector room is supposedly haunted, so sometimes we go up there and "ghost hunt." It's really fun to scare the new workers with scary stories and actually bring them up there and try to scare them. Also, sometimes we get really cool cu...

Wonder Woman Wonder Woman was a movie that projected more than just an origin story for this superhero, but rather a role model. It paved the road for the future. Girls and woman can learn from this movie and men can see that woman can be just as powerful. The captured this essence of the movie in this poster. It shows how strong and unafraid Wonder Woman is. It shares the story through the picture. Split This movie was a crazy yet interesting. The storyline was twisted, the characters were incredible and the outcome was a masterpiece. The poster was able to capture this movie into one picture. It captured the struggle of one man has with his multiple personalities. It is a really good poster with such a strong story behind it.  Star Wars This franchise is such a classic yet still stands the changing times. By adding more stories and characters, the universe is still able to expand and bring more life and story. The new poster does pay a sort of tribute to t...

We can not forget the classic Jumanji! You know the one that gave kids nightmares with their CGI rhinos and monkeys. It's a classic tale of rebirth and love, all the while trying to beat a killer game. It was a movie that would go down for the ages. With the announcement of the sequel or remake, still not sure what it exactly is, a lot of people were kind of upset and angry. Why would anyone try to remake Jumanji? Still, that didn't stop them from having a pretty good cast. Dwayne Johnson has been expanding his acting resume. He has been starring in a few different genres that have played in his favor. Kevin Hart gave the movie spunk and ensured that the audience would be laughing. Jack Black is just Jack Black. He does his own thing. No one really knows what he might do but he does it and it's good. The movie surrounds the same concepts as the original. There is a game that if you play it you need to complete it in order for everything to go back to normal. Except, it is...

The X-Men storyline has been around since 2000. By making these movies, the actors and audience created a world filled with love, hate, and fear, plus really cool mutants. Sadly, the original storyline has come to a close with the death of Wolverine. They dragged out Wolverine's story quite a bit. They didn't quite express who Logan truly is and didn't show the audience more of the story. Today we will be discussing and critiquing the Wolverine storyline. When we first see Wolverine, it is not his origin story but rather a push into the mutant world but meeting Rogue and Professor's Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters. This movie starts the world of superheroes. It opened questions like: How did Wolverine become who he is? Who will Jean choose? What will happen to the students? What is the feud going on between Professor X and Magneto? This is the start of the original trilogy. The second and third movies come around and I don't think it is what many fans thoug...

We need something to munch on during the movie and what is better than some popcorn! Popcorn and a movie is a perfect combination. You want to make a perfect batch; nothing that can come out burnt or over-cooked. You need the recipe for the perfect batch of popcorn!
